Over 600 participants performed at the “Magic Steps” Dance Art Festival

In the first edition of the “Magic Steps” Dance Art Festival, organized by the “Razvitie-1869” Community Center – Vratsa.

The event was attended by 610 children of different ages from 35 teams from all over Bulgaria – Vratsa, Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Kozloduy, Mezdra, Lom, the village of Zhelyava, the village of Devene, etc.

The jury members had a really hard time judging.

1. Professor Doctor of Sciences Anelia Yaneva – graduated choreographer-director; artistic director of the “Contemporary Choreography” specialty at the Southwestern University “Neofit Rilski”. Research scientist at the Institute for the Study of Arts at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Author of 15 independent books on ballet.

2. Kapka Penyashka – actress, part of the troupe of the Dramatic Puppet Theater – Vratsa since 1980. She has played in more than 50 titles. She has shown skills and talent at international festivals in Poland, Belgium, Croatia, Austria, Germany, Serbia, South Korea and Japan – as many as 5 times.

3. Petya Hristova – Festival Director of the “Magic Steps” Dance Art Festival.

Artistic director and ballet teacher of the Ballet Studio “ART”. Graduated in 2005 from the Academy of Performing Arts – Plovdiv, majoring in Ballet Art – Ballet Pedagogy. In parallel with the Ballet Studio “ART”, he runs schools for classical, modern ballet and cheerleading in kindergartens and schools in the city of Vratsa. Together with the Ballet Studio “ART”, he is the winner of numerous prizes in national and international competitions. Winner of the Mayor’s Award of the Municipality of Vratsa in the system of Public Education and in the field of culture for 2023.

The team of the “Razvitie” Community Center expresses its sincere gratitude to the Municipality of Vratsa, as well as to the donors of the Festival. And they are:

About our project

The Culture Green Project is run with the financial support of the Programme INTERREG V-A Romania-Bulgaria. It is a partnership between the Development 1869 Community Centre of Vratsa (lead partner) and the Community of Piatra-Olt in Romania (partner).

The main aim of the project is to develop the cultural heritage in the area of Vratsa and Piatra-Olt and make it more popular by renovating the cultural infrastructure and raising awareness of the local historical and cultural heritage. This specifically means the renovation of a concert hall and some improvements of the Vratsa Community Centre, overhaul of the Piatra-Olt town culture centre and furnishing the repaired buildings with the necessary equipment.

Other items on the agenda include:

Holding creative workshops on crafts typical of the Vratsa and Piatra-Olt region

Hosting a major cultural event highlighting traditional crafts

Creating and promoting cultural tourism routes

Designing a web-based platform to create a better awareness of the region’s cultural heritage and the routes created.

The project is worth a total 1,478,322.87 euro, of which 1,256,574.43 euro contributed by the European Regional Development Fund,  192,167.21 euro by Bulgaria and Romania’s national budgets, and 29,581.23 euro in own funding.

Project „Culture Green“ is cofinanted by the European Union through European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme.
