Hristo Botev Regional Library

Founded in 1954, the Hristo Botev Regional Library is located in the centre of Vratsa near the Regional History Museum.

Its inventory includes over 245,876 documents: books, periodicals, graphics, maps and music note editions, CDs, DVDs and other sources of information providing knowledge in many areas. Every year the library adds 4,000 to 5,000 new documents to its stock.

The books of the series The Place where I Was Born published by the library in recent years have been particularly successful. These are collections of folklore texts and other publications on the lifestyle, beliefs, rites and rituals of the people of Vratsa.

The library organises the annual local historians’ conferences on Local History: a Message to the Future and of the local regional history contest Know Your Past to Live Your Future.
